Overview

Tech4Society collaborated with the Abolitionist Law Center Court Watch to scrape and analyze data on imprisonment due to probation violations.

There is currently a lack of available data on how many people in Pennsylvania are reimprisoned following a probation violation. This obscures the role that probation plays in imprisonment, making it difficult to analyze or act on.

The ALC Court Watch set out to fill this gap by scraping and analyzing publicly available court records to extract information on probation revocation.

Current work

Tech4Society is working to support the Court Watch project as it scales up. Right now, we are focusing on automating the pipeline from scraping public court records to storing them in a database for ease of analysis.
